Delegation moves tasks, not accountability#
Delegating work can be wise. It lets people distribute effort, build systems, and use tools well. But delegation does not transfer the moral weight of the outcome.
That is the important distinction. If a person or team gives work to another person or to an AI system, they may reduce labor. They do not automatically reduce responsibility.
Why this matters in AI-assisted work#
AI makes delegation easier than ever. That creates a temptation to treat whatever came back from the system as if it already carried the right authority. It did not.
If a result is accepted, a human or accountable team still has to own the decision. That includes the decision to trust the output, to revise it, to reject it, or to delay action until the boundary is clear.

Before handing something off, ask:
- what task is being delegated
- what responsibility remains
- who must still answer for the result
