Machine Editions are governed, versioned knowledge packages designed for AI systems, agents, retrieval systems, and human–AI workflows.
They make an edition's declared structure, scope, and source context available for review and use. A Machine Edition is not merely an ebook converted to JSON.
Two complementary forms
Human and machine editions
Each form serves a different reading and use context. The distinction clarifies format and permission; it does not make a claim about automatic accuracy or truth.
Machine edition
Segmented and versioned
Schema-defined and provenance-bearing, with content prepared for retrieval, citation, transformation, and validation under explicitly declared computational uses.
Why this exists
Human editions continue
Books and other human editions remain the primary form for sustained reading, interpretation, and publication. Machine Editions make certain declared knowledge structures more legible to systems and workflows that need to locate, cite, or inspect material with care.
