Human Edition
Sustained human reading
Optimized for narrative, interpretation, and sustained reading in forms such as paperback, Kindle, EPUB, or PDF.
Publications
Structured publications designed for retrieval, validation, and governed use by software and AI systems.
A Machine Edition organizes a work into explicit meaning units, hierarchy, relationships, boundaries, provenance, and validation structures in machine-readable formats such as Markdown, JSON, and JSONL. It complements a Human Edition; it is more than format conversion.
Category definition
A Machine Edition is a structured publication package designed for direct use by software and AI systems. It makes meaning units, hierarchy, relationships, boundaries, provenance, and validation structures explicit for programmatic retrieval, inspection, validation, transformation, and governed machine use.
It is not merely an ebook converted into JSON. Structure improves inspectability, but it does not guarantee truth or eliminate hallucination or model error.
Two complementary forms
Machine Editions complement Human Editions; neither replaces the other. Their difference is structural purpose, not merely file format.
Human Edition
Optimized for narrative, interpretation, and sustained reading in forms such as paperback, Kindle, EPUB, or PDF.
Machine Edition
Optimized for explicit retrieval, inspection, validation, transformation, and governed use by software and AI systems.
Why this category exists
Conventional books are optimized for linear reading, while software benefits from explicit structure. Ordinary ebooks can still be useful to machines, but stable identifiers, boundaries, relationships, provenance, and validation rules make inspection and governed use more reliable.
Developer Preview
The current SROW package is a limited Developer Preview, not the full SROW manuscript or a finished commercial edition. It includes Markdown, JSONL meaning units, definitions, boundaries, examples, relationships, provenance, schemas, fixtures, a manifest, a license, and a checksum.

Feedback invitation
WinMedia is seeking useful feedback from developers, researchers, publishers, and AI practitioners who can evaluate an intended machine use. This is feedback intake, not enrollment, membership, a mailing-list subscription, or a promise of access or future terms.
Usage boundaries
Access to a preview does not automatically grant redistribution, derivative-dataset, public-hosting, training, fine-tuning, or commercial-resale rights. The license, not this summary, governs permitted use.
Permitted only within the preview license scope.
Requires terms appropriate to the organization and use.
Not granted for shared or public use by this preview.

Current status
Machine Editions are an emerging WinMedia publication category. The SROW Developer Preview is available for bounded evaluation while the catalog remains status-governed.
