Structured meaning and governed transformation#
Programming Cognition examines the relationship between explicit semantic structure, the transformations performed on it, and the constraints under which those transformations are permitted. The cog language provides a setting for developing this architectural inquiry.
The book is written for developers, researchers, and knowledge-system designers who need to reason about meaning and transformation together. It considers how a cognitive workflow can make its structure and governing conditions available for inspection.
Architectural context#
The book relates principally to cog and Structured Resolution-Oriented Writing. SROW addresses the rendering and transmission of structured meaning; cog brings attention to the representation and execution of cognitive workflows. Supporting Structures provides adjacent context for the distinctions needed to govern transformation.
Programming Cognition is a standalone publication. These relationships identify conceptual connections and do not establish a book series or required reading sequence.

Reading the materials requires no installation. Running the examples requires the separately obtained, pinned cog workspace described in the package; the companion archive does not include a runtime.
